Many of us want to build an intentional business, but we’ve never actually defined our owner’s intent as a small business owner. I like to think of your owner’s intent as a simpler, less-corporate version of a vision statement. It basically answers the question: what is your intention as a business owner? What is your END goal?
For many of us building businesses as creatives and coaches and online educators, it’s easy to think of ourselves as service providers, experts, consultants, maybe even freelancers in some cases, and we tend to think less often from the perspective of a brand or business owner. Your owner’s intent is a key piece of your strategy because as a business owner, every aspect of leading and growing your business is simpler when you have a clear owner’s intent – a defined end goal. It allows you to filter every decision through the lens of that purpose, that intent.
My goal for this episode is to help you understand the purpose of your owner’s intent and, if you don’t have one already, help you identify what that intent is so that you can use it as a guide this year. Because here’s the thing I’ve found: many entrepreneurs are building their businesses somewhat blindly… chasing growth, building the business you think you’re *supposed* to be building, only to wonder why something feels off. Often, it’s because your actions and plans aren’t aligned with the kind of business that YOU want to be building.
